Creative Islington Project – Exploring Space and Place: Kings Cross

An exciting new project has been awarded an ACE grant and is being led by Creative Islington over the next 2 months. Exploring Space and Place: Kings Cross is an interrogation of ‘placemaking’ in collaboration with Central Saint Martins (CSM) Local Engagement initiative, Autograph ABP and Cubitt. Through a series of workshops and on-site tour, this project provides local children and young people with an opportunity to creatively engage with the rapidly changing culture and landscape of Kings Cross and reflect upon their relationship to it.

Working with Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School (Islington) and Edith Neville Primary (Camden), three artists Dan White, Luce Choules and Ella Phillips will be working to encourage different approaches to mapping the area around CSM using sound, performance, photography and text. The outcome of their surveys will be presented at a sharing event on June 9th at CSM. There will be a workshop discussion which includes artists, curators and academics, discussing ideas around placemaking, public participation, agency and regeneration. Confirmed contributors include:
